Helping Families
Deal With The Realities
Of Cancer.
"Your child has cancer" … devastating words. Those words, spoken to us by our doctors six years ago, started our family on a long, painful, and miraculous journey that led us to you today. When our son Will was diagnosed with a brain tumor, our family experienced the wide range of emotions and strife that most families would have. We spent a great deal of time at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and quickly realized how blessed we were. We had financial resources, supportive friends and family, and our faith to keep us going. While most people can empathize with the emotional struggle of having a child with cancer, often these families’ financial needs are overlooked. Families can balance on the brink of financial collapse due to mounting expenses and time-off needed to care for a child with such a life-threatening condition. Travel expenses, prescription costs, and treatment can easily consume a family’s budget.
In an effort to make a difference for some of these families, we wanted to hold an annual fund-raiser during the holiday season. Since the movie’s message of hope is so pertinent, we screen “It’s a Wonderful Life” at the War Memorial Auditorium, followed by a holiday party. Over the past five years we have raised over $35,000 to support families during this time. The foundation has 501 (c)(3) status, and all contributions are tax deductible. 100% of the money raised goes directly to these families. We need your help to make their lives easier while they go through one of the hardest struggles imaginable.
